# How to sign in if you forgot your password

Sign in to Tarkle with the 6-digit code emailed to you, or with Google, because accounts have no password.

Tarkle accounts have no password, so there is nothing to reset. To sign in, enter the email address on your account and Tarkle emails you a 6-digit code. You can also choose Google on the sign-in page. If you open an old reset-password link, it takes you to the sign-in page, and the steps below apply.

1. **Open the sign-in page.** Go to tarkle.com/sign-in.
2. **Enter your email.** Type the address of your account in the **Email** field.
3. **Click Continue with email.** The **Check your email** screen opens. If an account uses that address, Tarkle emails it a 6-digit code.
4. **Type the code.** Open the email titled "Sign in to Tarkle" and enter the 6 digits on the **Check your email** screen. Tarkle checks the code as soon as the sixth digit is entered.

The code is valid for 10 minutes and works only once. To get a new one, click **Resend code**. A new code replaces the earlier one, so only the latest code works.

## If you do not receive the email

Check your spam or junk folder, then click **Resend code**. Check the spelling of the address too. The **Check your email** screen looks the same for every address, but an address with no account on Tarkle gets no email. Tarkle limits how often codes are sent. Four requests are allowed for one address in 10 minutes, and 15 for one internet address. A request beyond that shows "Too many attempts. Please try again in a few minutes." After five wrong codes from one internet address, Tarkle refuses further tries from that address for a few minutes. After 30 wrong codes in total, the emailed code stops working, and you click **Resend code** to get a new one.

## What happens next

If you turned on an authenticator app or a passkey for your account, the **Two-factor authentication** screen opens before the dashboard. Enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app. On tarkle.com, you can also choose **Use a passkey**, because passkeys work only on tarkle.com and its subdomains. **Back to sign in** signs you out and returns you to the sign-in page. After the code is accepted, you land on your dashboard, or on the page you were trying to reach.
