# Which plan includes the client portal?

The client portal is included on Pro and Agency; here is how to check your plan.

The client portal in Tarkle is part of the Pro plan. The [pricing page](https://tarkle.com/pricing) lists it under Pro as "Fully branded client portal: give your recipients a branded place to receive and manage the files you share with them". The Agency plan includes everything in Pro, so it has the client portal too, and the Free plan does not.

Plans belong to your organization, not to a single workspace.

## Check your plan and invite a client

1. **Open Billing.** Go to your organization's settings and open the **Billing** tab.
2. **Read your plan.** Pro or Agency means the client portal is available.
3. **Ask the owner to upgrade if you are on Free.** Only the organization owner can change the plan, and an admin can open **Billing** but only read it.
4. **Choose a plan.** The owner compares plans and prices on the [pricing page](https://tarkle.com/pricing) and pays at checkout.
5. **Invite your first client.** Follow the steps in [How to invite your first client to the client portal](https://tarkle.com/help/getting-started/how-to-invite-first-client-client-portal).

## What happens on Free

On the Free plan, turning on portal access for a client is refused with the message "The client portal is available on Pro plans."

## What happens next

Once your organization is on Pro or Agency, you can give a client portal access. The client receives a sign-in email and then signs in to see what you shared with them.
