# How do I let viewers download a board?

Turn on Allow downloads in the board's three-dot menu, and viewers get a Download button for a zip of its files.

Open the board's three-dot menu, labelled **Board actions**, and click **Allow downloads**. Viewers then get a **Download** button that saves the board's files as one zip.

## Turn downloads on or off

Until you turn it on, viewers cannot download the board. Each board has its own setting. The owner, and team members with the edit files permission, can change it.

1. Open the board on [Feedback](/dashboard/feedback).
2. Click the three-dot menu, labelled **Board actions**, beside the **Share** button.
3. Click **Allow downloads**. A message reads "Downloads allowed. Viewers get a Download button."
4. To turn downloads off again, open the same menu and click **Disable downloads**.

Team members without the edit files permission see only the notifications item in that menu.

## What viewers get

On the board's public page, viewers see a **Download** button in the sidebar, above the attribution line at the bottom. The button is hidden while the sidebar is collapsed. When a viewer clicks it, the button reads **Preparing...** while the zip is built, and then the file saves to their computer.

The zip is named after the board: its title, then its link code in capitals, ending in .zip. It holds every live file on the board, all at once. Viewers cannot pick single files.

If no file on the board has earlier versions, the files sit at the top of the zip. If any file has earlier versions, each version number gets its own folder, such as Version 1 and Version 2, so the folders line up across files.

If the board has a password or asks for an email address, a viewer must pass that first, as they do to open the board. Signed-in team members of the workspace can always download, whatever the setting.

## Earlier versions in the zip

The zip includes the earlier versions of a file that are still kept. A replaced version is kept for 30 days on Free and 90 days on Pro, counted from the day it was replaced. A later plan change does not shorten that time. Making new versions is a Pro feature. Read [File versioning: what it is and how it works](/help/storage/file-versioning-what-it-is-and-how-it-works) to see how versions are kept, and compare plans on [Pricing](/pricing).

## Download counts

Each download of a board is counted, and team downloads count too. Plan and board limits are covered in [Feedback plans and limits](/help/feedback/feedback-plans-and-limits).

When the work is approved, turn on **Allow downloads** so viewers can take the files with them.
