Link workspace lets one Tarkle account use a workspace that belongs to a different account, without signing out and in. The workspace stays owned by the other account. Nothing is moved, merged or turned into a team membership, and either account can end the link at any time.
Example: you have a personal account and a company account. Link the company workspace to your personal account and it appears in your workspace switcher next to your own.
This is not the same as inviting someone to a team. Team members have roles (Admin, Member, Viewer) and appear in Settings → Members. A linked workspace gives the linked account the owner's access (minus billing, see below) and never shows up in the owner's member list.
1. What you need
You are the linked account: the account that will use the workspace. The workspace owner is the other account.
Requirement | Why |
You're signed in to the account that will use the workspace | The link is created for the account you're signed in with. |
That account owns at least one workspace | Team members and accounts with no workspace can't link. |
You know the other account's email and password | Both accounts prove they agree to the link by password. |
Both accounts have a password | Google, magic-link and email-code sign-ins can't authorize a link. Set one on the Account page first if needed. |
A free workspace slot on your account | Each linked workspace uses one of your slots, whatever its plan (see section 4). |
The workspace is active | Closed, deleted or suspended workspaces can't be linked. |
You can't link a workspace you already have access to (your own, one you're a team member of, or one that's already linked), and you can't link an account to itself.
2. How to link a workspace
You can start from three places. All three open the same dialog:
Workspace switcher (top of the sidebar) → Link workspace
Workspace hub → Link workspace button
Account → Linked workspaces card → Link workspace
The switcher item and hub button only show for an account that owns a workspace and is not currently inside a linked workspace.
Step 1: enter both accounts
The dialog asks for three things:
Second account email: the account that owns the workspace.
Second account password.
Your password: the password of the account you're signed in with.
Click Continue. Tarkle checks both passwords at the same time. If either is wrong you get one message ("The email or password is incorrect for one of the accounts."); it never says which one, so it can't be used to guess.
Neither account is signed in or out by this check, and no session or password is stored. Both browsers stay exactly as they were.
Step 2: pick the workspaces
Tarkle lists the other account's active workspaces that you don't already have. Tick one or more (up to 10 at a time) and click Link workspace (or Link workspaces).
The workspace appears in your switcher and hub straight away. Open it like any other workspace.
Errors you can see
Message | Meaning |
The email or password is incorrect for one of the accounts. | One of the two passwords (or the email) is wrong. |
Too many attempts. Try again in a few minutes. | More than a few tries in a short window for your account or for that email. |
Your Free workspace slots are in use. Upgrade a workspace or remove a link first. | The slot limit in section 4. |
You have reached your workspace limit. | The overall cap in section 4. |
Only an account that owns a workspace can link another account's workspace. | You are a team member or have no workspace. |
Choose a different account. | You entered your own email. |
None of the selected workspaces can be linked. | Each selected workspace was closed, deleted, already accessible, or not owned by that account. |
Your workspaces are being updated. Try again in a moment. | Another change to your workspaces was running; retry. |
3. What a linked account can and can't do
A linked account works as the workspace's owner, with these exceptions:
Action | Linked account |
See and use everything in the workspace: files, folders, transfers, requests, brands, contacts, settings | Yes |
Manage members, integrations, domains and Stripe keys (merchant settings) | Yes |
See or open Billing | No |
Add storage / upgrade the plan from inside the workspace | No |
Change the workspace's data region | No |
Transfer ownership | No |
Close or delete the workspace | No |
Other things to know:
Features follow the workspace, not you. A Pro workspace linked to a Free account has Pro features inside that workspace. Your own plan doesn't change anything there.
Everything is recorded. Activity in the workspace shows the account that acted. For a linked account the record also notes that it came through a link and which account owns the workspace.
Team members can't use links. Only the two accounts on the link can see or end it; members of either account can't.
Some pages may not support links yet. A page or action that hasn't been fully rolled out for linked access says you don't have access, even though the owner would. If you hit this, contact support.
4. Workspace slots
Linked workspaces share your account's workspace allowance:
A linked workspace counts as one Free slot, even if the workspace itself is Pro. An account can hold at most 2 Free slots in total, counting its own Free workspaces plus its linked ones.
Your own paid workspaces don't use Free slots, and each one raises your overall cap. The overall cap is 10 workspaces plus one per paid workspace you own, owned and linked together.
The linked workspace's plan is never read for this, and a linked workspace never raises your allowance.
Creating a new workspace also has to fit these limits, so links and new workspaces compete for the same slots.
If you end up over the limit later (for example one of your Pro workspaces lapses), existing links stay. You just can't add more until you're back under.
5. Ending a link
Either account can end a link, instantly, with no password and no notice. It takes effect right away.
Who | Where | Button |
The linked account | Account → Linked workspaces → Granted to you | Disconnect |
The workspace owner | Account → Linked workspaces → Granted by you | Remove access |
Ending one link affects only that workspace.
A link also disappears on its own when:
the workspace is closed or deleted,
the workspace's owner changes (the link was to the old owner, so it no longer applies), or
the linked account is closed.
6. Support access
Tarkle staff can open a workspace during an approved support session in a similar way to a linked account — no billing, no closing or deleting. This is separate from Link workspace: no link is created, so it won't appear in either account's Linked workspaces list.
