How to set up a custom domain

Learn where to add a custom domain in Tarkle, what information you need from your domain provider, and how to check whether the domain is active.

A custom domain lets you use a domain you own with your Tarkle workspace. Before you begin, make sure you can update DNS records for the domain you want to use.

Add a domain

  1. Sign in to Tarkle and open the workspace where you want to use the domain. Select Settings.

  2. Open the Domains section. The app uses the Domains view inside workspace Settings.

  3. Select the option to add a domain and enter the domain in the format requested by Tarkle. Use the exact domain you want to connect, such as files.example.com.

Update your DNS records

  1. After you add the domain, Tarkle shows the DNS records required to connect it.

  2. Open your DNS provider and add the records exactly as they appear in Tarkle.

  3. Do not use DNS values from an old help article. The records shown in Tarkle are the records to use for your domain.

Check the domain status

Return to the Domains section after you update your DNS records. Use the available status or verification control to check whether the domain is active. DNS changes can take time to update. If the domain is still pending, review the DNS record names and values in your provider and compare them with the information shown in Tarkle.

Remove a domain

Open the Domains section in Settings and select the domain you want to remove. Use the removal option shown for that domain. Read the confirmation message before you continue.

Do not remove a domain until you have checked whether it is used in links or other workspace settings.
