How team storage works in Tarkle

Storage in Tarkle Send is workspace-level and pooled. Every member of your workspace draws from the same pool. This article explains how that works, what it means for your team, and links to related articles on team seats and roles.

Team storage is a bookkeeping layer on top of your workspace's storage. It doesn't add extra storage and it doesn't stop uploads on its own — here's how it works.

Workspace storage: the real limit

Your plan sets your workspace's total storage — for example 5 GB on Free, or 3 TB on Pro. Every file in the workspace counts toward that total, including files inside Team folders. The sidebar storage bar and dashboard card show this total usage.

Only your workspace's storage limit actually stops uploads. Nothing checks Team budgets before letting a file through.

Team budgets: a reservation on top

A Team budget sets aside part of your workspace's total storage for one Team, so you can keep an eye on how much a group is using. You can set a Team's budget when you create it, or later with Edit team or Assign storage. Leave it empty for no limit. Only owners and admins can set or change a Team's budget. Budgets for all your Teams can't add up to more than your plan's total storage. If you try to set aside more than what's left, Tarkle refuses the change with a message that the requested amount exceeds the remaining workspace allocation. A Team with no budget set doesn't count against this limit. A Team's usage is everything inside its folders — its main folder, plus Uploaded, Received, and anything nested inside them.

To learn how to invite team members, see Team Members in Tarkle. To understand how to control what each member can do, see Roles and Permissions.

Usable general space is shown as a guide. If a Team's budget is set after the rest of the workspace has already used a lot of storage, this figure can go negative — that's expected, and it doesn't block anything.
