Team folders

How Team folders let you split a Pro workspace into teams, each with its own folder, members, and optional storage budget.

Team folders let you split a workspace into teams. Each team has its own folder, its own members, and, if you want, its own storage budget. Team folders are available on the Pro plan.

Use them when different groups in your workspace work on different things, for example Marketing, Finance, or one team per project.

What a team gives you

  • A protected folder. Every team has a main folder. You can add files and subfolders to it. The main folder itself can be downloaded, but not renamed or deleted by accident.

  • Who can see it. Choose Everyone to share the team with the whole workspace, or Members only to limit it to the people you select.

  • A storage budget. Optionally set aside an amount of storage for the team. The team cannot use more than its budget, and the rest of your workspace keeps the space it needs.

  • Usage at a glance. The Team folders page shows how much storage teams use, how many transfers and requests came in through team folders, and each team's remaining space.

Create a team

  1. Open Team folders in the sidebar.

  2. Select New team.

  3. Enter a name. Pick an icon and a colour.

  4. Add a description, or select the wand icon to write one with AI. AI descriptions are a Pro feature.

  5. Optionally set a storage budget and choose who has access.

  6. Select Create team.

Change a team's storage

Select Assign storage, pick a team, and enter the new budget in GB or TB. You can only assign storage that is not already reserved by other teams or used by your files.

Who can manage teams

Workspace owners and admins can create and manage teams. Other members can open the teams they have access to.

Good to know

  • Team folders are for the people in your workspace. They are not client portals. People you share transfers with do not become team members.

  • Files in a team folder count toward both the team's budget and your workspace storage.

  • On a Free plan you can see Team folders in the sidebar, but creating teams needs an upgrade.

  • Older links to /team-storage still work and take you to Team folders.
