We retired two features on July 17, 2026: the ability to sell individual files or folders directly from your file library, and the digital store at /store. These features are no longer accessible. Your historical sales data remains available in your reports.

Why we made this change

Tarkle Send was originally built around storing files. Selling was added as a layer on top of that storage model: you could attach a price to any file or folder, share the link, and buyers would check out before accessing it. That model required a separate product, store management, coupon codes, and a checkout flow that most users never needed.

The platform has shifted. Tarkle Send is now built around moving files. Transfers are the core action. The selling infrastructure existed to solve a problem that transfers can solve more directly, without the overhead of maintaining a separate storefront.

What is no longer available

Starting July 17, 2026:

  • Setting a sell price on individual files or folders from /files no longer works

  • The digital store at /store is no longer accessible

  • Store product listings are no longer live

  • Coupon codes and discount management for file sales are retired

  • Checkout pages for individual file or folder purchases are no longer active

Your data is not deleted

All past transaction records, sale history, and revenue reports remain accessible in your Reports section. You can still view what sold, when, and at what price. No historical financial data has been removed.

How to charge for files using paid transfers

Paid transfers replace per-file selling. Instead of attaching a price to a file in your library, you create a transfer and set an access condition on it. The recipient pays before they can view or download anything.

How to create a paid transfer

  1. Go to Transfers and click New transfer.

  2. Add the files or folders you want to share.

  3. Under Access settings, enable Charge for access or Charge for download.

  4. Set your price. The recipient must complete payment before the transfer content becomes available.

  5. Send the transfer link.

The recipient opens the link, sees a payment screen, pays, and then gets access. You receive the payment through your connected Stripe account.

Charge for access vs. charge for download

Option

What it does

Charge for access

Recipient pays to view the transfer page and preview files

Charge for download

Recipient pays to download the files

Use charge for access when you want to sell view access to a video, audio file, or document. Use charge for download when you want the recipient to own the file after paying.

Paid video and audio transfers

If you are sharing a video or audio file and want recipients to pay to watch or listen, create the transfer, add your video or audio files, and select Charge for access. The recipient pays and then streams the content directly from the transfer page. No download is required on their end. This works for client deliveries, course content, event recordings, or any media you want to gate behind a payment.

What you can set on a paid transfer

  • A fixed price in your selected currency

  • An expiration date so access ends after a set period

  • Password protection in addition to payment

  • Email capture so you know who paid and accessed the files

This gives you more control than the old per-file selling model, without a separate store to manage.
