Cloud storage and file transfers are related but not the same thing. Tarkle Send has both, and understanding how they work separately helps you get the most out of the platform.
What is the difference?
Cloud storage is where your files live. It is your workspace library, a organised collection of every file your team has uploaded. Files sit in storage until you choose to share, delete, or move them.
File transfer is how you move files to someone else. A transfer is a shareable link — a branded page where a recipient can view, download, or stream the files you have included. Transfers are temporary by design: they can expire, be password-protected, or be deleted after the first download.
Storage is the library. A transfer is a delivery.
How they work together
The two systems connect at the point of sharing. When you create a transfer, you choose which files to include. Those files can come from:
Your device (uploaded fresh into the transfer)
Your workspace library (selected from existing stored files)
External sources (Google Drive, Figma, Notion links masked through the library)
A file stored in your library can be used in unlimited transfers. Each transfer gets its own link, its own access settings, and its own expiration date. The underlying file in storage is never duplicated, only referenced.
This means a contract template stored once can be sent to 50 clients through 50 separate transfers, each with a unique password, without consuming 50x the storage.
Tarkle Send Is Not a Sync App
Tarkle Send does not sync files across devices. It does not create a local folder on your desktop that mirrors your workspace. It does not replace Dropbox or Google Drive for device-level sync.
What it does instead:
Stores files in a workspace accessible by your whole team from any browser
Lets you upload files directly from any device through the web app
Keeps your library intact and accessible without any local software
If you need device sync, you can keep files in Dropbox or Google Drive and use Tarkle Send's external link masking to present those files under your brand in transfers. The two tools work alongside each other.
Tarkle Send as a Cloud Backup
Because all uploaded files are stored in your workspace library, Tarkle Send functions as a practical cloud backup for business files you need to share regularly. Uploading client deliverables, proposals, brand assets, and templates to your workspace means they are stored off-device and accessible from anywhere.
Send Pro adds 90-day file recovery, so even files your team deletes can be restored within that window. This makes the library a reliable second copy of important business files, not just a staging area for transfers.
