How to import files from Google Drive or Dropbox
Connect your Google Drive or Dropbox account, pick the files you want, and find them in your Tarkle library, with no download to your computer first.
You do not need to download your files and upload them again. Connect your Google Drive or Dropbox account, pick files, and they are copied into your library. The import is a one-time copy of the files you pick, not a sync, so later changes in Google Drive or Dropbox do not reach your library.
Importing from Dropbox or Google Drive is included on the Free plan. Your organization's plan sets the largest file you can import, which is 1 GB per file on Free.
Import from Google Drive
Open your destination. In your library, go to the folder you want the files in.
Click Upload. Then click Import from Google Drive.
Connect your account. Click Connect Google Drive and give access on Google's page.
Pick your files. Back in the library, click Choose from Google Drive and tick one or more files in Google's picker.
Check the result. A message reads "Added N file(s) from Google Drive."
You connect once, and this connection is separate from how you sign in. If Google asks you to connect again, click Reconnect Google Drive. To use a different Google account, click Use another account. Google's picker has a tab for files shared with you.
Import from Dropbox
Open your destination. In your library, go to the folder you want the files in.
Click Upload. Then click Import from Dropbox.
Connect your account. Click Connect Dropbox and allow access on Dropbox. If the connection expired, click Reconnect Dropbox.
Find your files. Click a folder to open it, or type in Search Dropbox....
Select files. Tick the files you want, or click Select all files for the folder you are in.
Add them. Click Add from Dropbox (N). A message reads "Added N file(s) from Dropbox."
If some files have the same name as files already in your library, the button reads Review and add (N). For each one, choose Replace or Upload as new, then click Continue.
What you can pick
You pick files, not folders. You can open folders in Google Drive and Dropbox to look inside, but a folder cannot be selected, and your folder structure is not recreated. To keep a structure, create the folders in your library first, then import into each one.
Google Docs, Sheets and Slides are converted to Word, Excel and PowerPoint files, and Google exports are limited to 10 MB. Forms, shortcuts and other Google items that are not files are not imported. A file larger than your plan allows, or more than your storage has room for, is skipped, and the summary gives the reason.
Note: Google Drive files over 100 MiB are copied in parts, and the copy continues only while the browser tab stays open. If you close it, reopen the import and click Resume.
What happens next
Imported files appear in the folder you were in when you clicked Upload, or at the top of your library if you were not in a folder. They count toward your storage like any other file. From there you can organize them, preview them and share them in a file transfer.
