Burn after read file transfers with Tarkle Send

Burn after read in Tarkle Send deletes your transfer after the first download. Share sensitive files that self-destruct once accessed. No copies left behind.

Burn after read turns a transfer into a one-time event. Once the recipient downloads the file, the transfer is deleted permanently. No second download is possible, regardless of who holds the link.

How wt works

Enable the Burn after read option when configuring your transfer. The file is stored normally and the link works like any other. The moment the first successful download completes, Tarkle Send deletes the transfer. If you or anyone else tries the link after that point, it no longer works.

Use cases

  • Legal and compliance — Send documents that must not be retained or forwarded beyond the intended recipient.

  • One-time codes or credentials — Share API keys, license files, or account credentials that should only be accessed once.

  • Sensitive client files — Deliver confidential work knowing the file cannot be accessed again after delivery.

Restrictions

Burn after read cannot be combined with View only. If a recipient can only preview but not download, the burn trigger never fires, so the system disables the combination. External linked files do not support this setting. For paid transfers, burn after read is disabled to protect against chargeback situations where the file is no longer accessible.
