How to use a custom domain for your file sharing links
Connect a subdomain you own, such as files.yourstudio.com, add the DNS records Tarkle shows you, and check that your transfer and request links open on your own address.
A custom domain puts your links on an address you own, like files.yourstudio.com, instead of a Tarkle address. It is available on every plan, including Free, and each workspace can connect one domain. You need access to the DNS records of the domain at your domain provider.
Connect your domain
Open Domains. In your workspace, open Settings, then the Domains section.
Start adding. Click Add domain.
Pick the destination. Choose Workspace domain and click Continue.
Enter a subdomain. Type it in the Domain field, for example
files.yourstudio.com, and click Create.Copy the DNS records. Copy the Type, Name and Value of each record from the table. The values are made for your domain, so never reuse values from another page.
Add the records at your domain provider. Create each record exactly as shown.
Check the status. Click Refresh.
The row changes from Pending to Active when the records are found. Use a subdomain with at least three parts: a bare domain such as yourstudio.com, a domain starting with "www" and the default Tarkle domain are refused.
How long verification takes
Checking starts as soon as you click Create. It then repeats on its own at longer intervals, up to every 30 minutes. After 8 automatic checks it stops, and the row stays Pending until you click Refresh. DNS changes can take time to arrive, and no fixed time is stated.
Check your link
When the row shows Active, open a transfer or file request link in a new browser window and look at the address bar. It should show your domain. Transfer links, file request links, Brand Pages, event pages and client portal logins use the custom domain. Your dashboard and login stay on the Tarkle address.
If the domain is not verified
A domain shown as Pending or Action required is not confirmed yet. Compare the records at your provider with the table, then click Refresh. Do not send the custom-domain link to clients before the row shows Active.
Send notification emails from your domain
Adding a workspace domain also registers it for sending email. The email records appear in the same table, and an Action required badge shows next to the domain until they are added. Add them the same way and click Refresh.
Use the tarkle.page backup address
Your backup address is tarkle.page/ followed by your workspace URL. In Domains, the Vanity URL row shows it with a Copy URL button. If it says Unavailable, click Edit workspace URL to choose a valid one.
Note: Changing your workspace URL breaks existing transfer and request links.
Agency: run everything on your own domain
Agency also lets you run Tarkle entirely on your own domain, like cloud.acme.com, with your clients logging in there.
What happens next
Your shared links open on your own address. To change the domain, open the three-dot menu on its row and choose Edit or Delete. Edit removes the old domain first and then adds the new one.
