A file transfer is created in three steps from the New Transfer modal. You pick your content, write a title and optional summary, then choose how the link is shared and who can access it.

Step 1: Choose your content

When you open the New Transfer modal, the first screen asks you to choose the transfer type. Select File transfer.

You then have four ways to add content:

  • Files. Drop files from your computer or click browse. Multiple files are supported. Files upload in parallel, up to 5 at once, with a real-time progress bar for each.

  • Folder. Drop an entire folder from your computer. The folder structure is preserved and the whole folder is sent as a single item.

  • Existing. Search and select files or folders already uploaded to your workspace. Use the search field to filter by name. You can select multiple items.

  • External. Paste a link to Google Drive, Figma, Notion, YouTube, or other external tools. Add a label for each link. Multiple external links can be added to a single transfer.

There is no hard limit on the number of files, but the total transfer size must not exceed your plan's per-transfer size limit. If you are in the trial period, transfers are capped at 5 GB per transfer. If your workspace is out of storage, the transfer is blocked and you receive a notification.

Step 2: Title, summary, and options

On the second step, you fill in:

  • Title (required). The name shown on the transfer page. You can type it manually or click the AI sparkle icon to generate a title and summary based on your file names automatically.

  • Summary (optional). Up to 150 characters. Shown below the title on the transfer page.

  • Custom CTA (optional). Add a button label and a URL. The button appears on the transfer page so recipients can take an action, like booking a call or visiting a site.

  • Cover image (optional). Pick a PNG, JPEG, or GIF from your workspace's Files. This becomes the Open Graph image when the transfer link is shared on social media or in messaging apps. Recommended size is 1200x630px.

Step 3: Access and sharing

On the third step, you choose how the link works. You pick between Link mode (one shareable URL) and Email mode (send directly to specific recipients).

In Link mode, you can combine any of these options:

  • Direct link. The file downloads immediately when the link is clicked. No landing page is shown. Best for single-file transfers.

  • Gated. The recipient must submit their name and email before they can access the files.

  • Password protected. The link requires a password to open. You set the password in this step.

  • Burn after read. The transfer is permanently deleted after the first download.

  • View only. The recipient can preview supported file types (images, PDFs, videos, audio) but cannot download them.

  • Expiration date. The link stops working on a date you set. The maximum expiration is 3 years from today.

Not all options can be combined. Direct link and View only are mutually exclusive. Gated and View only are mutually exclusive. Burn after read and View only are mutually exclusive. External link transfers do not support Direct link, Burn after read, or View only.

In Email mode, you type or paste up to 30 email addresses. Each recipient gets an individual notification email with the transfer link. For each new email address, a contact and organization are created automatically in your workspace.

Once you submit, the transfer is created and you see the shareable link. Copy it and the transfer is live.
