How to refer a friend and earn storage

Every active account gets one personal referral link. When someone signs up through it and creates their first workspace, you both earn 5 GB of storage after a 30-day wait. You then redeem that storage in a workspace you own.

How to refer a friend

  1. Open the page. In the account menu, choose Refer a friend.

  2. Copy your link. Copy it from the Refer and earn storage card and send it anywhere.

  3. Or invite by email. Click Invite via email, type one address in Email address and click Send.

  4. Your friend signs up and creates a workspace. Their first workspace starts the 30-day wait for both of you.

  5. Check progress. The Your referrals table lists each friend with a status, described below.

  6. Open the redeem dialog. Click Redeem balance.

  7. Enter the amount. Type the size in Amount (GB) and choose a workspace in the Workspace field.

  8. Confirm. Click Redeem.

When you both earn storage

Each side gets 5 GB when the 30-day wait ends. The Referral Program Terms set these conditions for a referral to qualify:

  • The friend's email address has never had an account.

  • The account was created through your link.

  • The email address is verified.

  • Both accounts are still active and in good standing 30 days after the friend's first workspace was created.

Only the first workspace counts. If your friend never creates a workspace, neither of you earns anything.

Inviting someone to your workspace as a team member does not count, and neither does sharing a file, a transfer or a file request. Any account you control, including one for your own business or household, does not count either. Amounts can change for future referrals, and a change never reduces a reward already credited.

What the statuses mean

The Your referrals table shows a masked version of the friend's email, the workspace they created, when they joined and a status:

  • Signed up: your friend has an account but has not created a workspace yet, so no reward is on the way.

  • Pending: the wait is running. The label counts the days left and changes to granting soon when the wait is over.

  • Active: the reward is in your balance.

  • Revoked: the reward was not credited, for example because it would take you over the 100 GB cap. The terms also allow rewards to be withheld or reversed for abuse.

The 100 GB cap

Each account can earn up to 100 GB in total from the program. That total includes the 5 GB you earn once for being referred yourself, so you can earn 20 referrer rewards if you were not referred, and 19 if you were. A reward that would go over the cap is not credited and is not saved for later. The Referral Program Terms say your cap never affects your friend: they still get their 5 GB.

Redeeming your balance

The balance belongs to your account, not to a workspace.

  • You can redeem from 5 GB up to your full available balance, in one go or in several steps.

  • The workspace must be one you own, on any plan. A workspace where you are only a team member does not qualify.

  • The storage is added on top of the workspace's plan storage. It stays when the plan changes or the workspace moves to a new owner through an ownership transfer.

  • Redeeming cannot be undone, and the storage cannot be moved to another workspace or account. If the workspace is deleted, its redeemed storage ends and does not return to your balance.

  • An email with the amount and the workspace name arrives after each redemption.

Unused balance ends if your account is deleted. If the program ends, you have 90 days to redeem what is left.

Invite limits and fair use

You can send up to 15 invite emails per hour. If you go over, the invite dialog shows "You're sending invites too fast. Try again later."

Tarkle may withhold, reverse or refuse a reward, including storage already applied to a workspace, and may remove an account from the program, if it decides in good faith that accounts were created mainly to earn rewards, that one person or organization made several accounts, or that the link was shared through spam or misleading ads. The full rules are in the Referral Program Terms at tarkle.com/referral-terms.

If you use Tarkle on a reseller's own domain, the Refer a friend page is available only when that reseller has turned the program on.

What happens next

When a friend's reward is Active, open Refer a friend and click Redeem balance to add the storage to a workspace you own.
