How to see if a recipient opened your transfer

After you send a transfer, its detail page shows whether anyone opened or downloaded it. You can read this in two places: the status badges under the title, and the Activity section below the files. For what transfer status covers in general, see Transfer status.

How to check one transfer

  1. Open Transfers. In your workspace, open Transfers.

  2. Open the transfer. Click the transfer you sent to open its detail page.

  3. Read the badges under the title. They show Viewed, Downloaded and Delivered when they apply.

  4. Hover over a badge. The tooltip gives the count and the date and time of the last view or download.

  5. Scroll to Activity. Below Files, the Activity section lists what happened on this transfer.

  6. Read the rows. Each row has three columns, explained below.

What the badges mean

Viewed shows the transfer was opened, and Viewed ×N appears when it was opened more than once. Downloaded and Downloaded ×N work the same way for downloads. Delivered shows the email was delivered.

What the Activity columns show

  • What: the item name, then "by" the person, then the time. Hover over the time to see the exact date and time.

  • Action: what happened, such as a view or a download.

  • Where: the city and country, or the country alone, and "Unknown" when the location is not known.

The row names the person by their name when Tarkle has one, otherwise by the part of their email address before the @. When neither is known, the row says Guest.

When no one has opened it

Until something is logged, the Activity section says "No one has opened this transfer yet." The section loads up to 50 entries, and you can type in the Search activities... box to filter the rows by item name.

What happens next

Once someone opens or downloads the transfer, click the refresh button in Activity to load the new rows.
