How big a file an AI assistant can upload to Tarkle
Tarkle sets the largest file an AI assistant can upload by where the assistant runs, and by your plan.
You can connect an AI assistant to Tarkle, and the assistant can upload a file to a workspace you choose. The largest file it accepts depends on where the assistant runs and on your plan. This article explains both limits and what to do with a file that is larger than they allow. To connect an assistant first, see How to connect an AI assistant to Tarkle.
How big a file an assistant can upload
Tarkle sets the limit from how the assistant connected:
An assistant that runs on your computer, for example one connected with a token you created, can upload a file up to your plan's per-file limit. On Free that is 1 GB per file. On Pro and Agency it is 200 GB per file.
A chat app that runs in a browser, such as ChatGPT or Claude.ai, can upload a file up to 5 GB.
Tarkle decides which group an assistant is in from how it signed in. When Tarkle cannot tell, it uses the 5 GB limit. The plan limit always applies on top of either group, so a file over 1 GB is refused on Free from any assistant. You can see what each plan includes on pricing.
What happens with a file over 5 GB in a chat app
A chat app cannot send a file over 5 GB. When you ask it to upload a larger file, the assistant gives you a link to the page Upload files to Tarkle, and asks you to pick the file yourself.
Open the link. Open the link the assistant gives you. The page is titled Upload files to Tarkle.
Choose the file. Choose the file from your device on that page. The browser upload follows your plan's per-file limit. When the upload finishes, go back to your assistant and ask it to create the share link.
