Link a workspace from another account
Use a workspace from another account without switching accounts: what it needs, what it can do, how to end it.
Link workspace lets you use a workspace from another account without switching accounts. The workspace stays owned by the other account, and either account can end the link at any time. If you are new to workspaces, read What is a Tarkle workspace? first.
For example, you have a personal account and a company account. Link the company workspace to your personal account, and it appears in your workspace menu next to your own, with a Linked badge.
What you need
You are signed in to the account that will use the workspace. This is the linked account.
That account owns at least one workspace. A team member with no workspace of its own cannot link one.
You can read the email inboxes of both accounts, because Tarkle sends a 6-digit code to each one. No password is asked for.
The workspace is active. A workspace that is closed or deleted cannot be linked.
You do not already have access to the workspace, as its owner, as a team member or through a link.
Your account has room in its workspace allowance. See Workspace allowance below.
How to link a workspace
Start from the Linked workspaces card on your Personal account page, where the Link workspace button opens the dialog. The workspace hub and the workspace menu also offer Link workspace. The card and the hub show it only when your account owns a workspace, and the workspace menu shows it while you are in a workspace your account owns.
Open your Personal account page. In Linked workspaces, click Link workspace.
In Second account email, type the email of the account that owns the workspace, then click Send codes.
Tarkle emails a 6-digit code to that account and another to your account. Type them in Code sent to the second account and Code sent to your account.
Click Continue. Tarkle checks both codes and lists the active workspaces of that account that you do not already have.
Tick one or more workspaces, up to 10 at a time, then click Link workspace. When you tick more than one, the button reads Link workspaces.
Note: each code is valid for 10 minutes, and the person who owns the other account must read the code sent to that account. After five wrong tries a code stops working. Click Send new codes under the fields to get new ones. Clicking Continue does not use up the codes. They are used up when the workspace is linked.
What happens next
The dialog closes and the page refreshes. You see Workspace linked. or Workspaces linked. The workspace appears in your workspace menu with a Linked badge. Open it there like any other workspace.
If linking does not work

Too many attempts. Try again in a few minutes. | Too many codes were requested, or too many checks were made, in a short time. Sending codes is limited to 4 every 10 minutes for your account and for the email address. Checking codes and linking are limited to 8 every 15 minutes. |
Enter a valid email address. | The second account email is not a valid email address. |

You have reached your workspace limit. | Your own and linked workspaces already use your account's allowance. See Workspace allowance below. |
None of the selected workspaces can be linked. | Each selected workspace is closed, deleted, already accessible to you, or not owned by that account. |
Your workspaces are being updated. Try again in a moment. | Another change to your workspaces was running. Try again. |
The workspace could not be linked. | Tarkle could not finish the link. Start again from Link workspace. |
What a linked account can and can't do
A linked account works as the owner of the workspace, with these exceptions.
It can see the workspace, create content in it, change its settings and manage its members.
It cannot see Billing, transfer ownership, or close or delete the workspace.
Each action taken through a link is recorded with the linked account as the person who acted. The record also notes that it came through a link and which account owns the workspace. Only the two accounts on a link can see it or end it. Team members of either account cannot.
Workspace allowance
Your account can hold a limited number of workspaces. The workspaces you own and the workspaces you link count together against that number. The number depends on your plan: 1 workspace on Free, 2 on Pro and 20 on Agency. Plans and prices lists the plans.
A linked workspace takes one place in that number, whatever its plan is, and its plan does not raise your number. An account on Free with one workspace of its own has no room left, so it needs Pro or Agency to link one. Creating a new workspace counts against the same number, as explained in How to create an additional workspace in Tarkle. If your account goes over the number later, the existing links stay, and you cannot add more until it is back under.
Ending a link
Either account can end a link at any time. It takes effect straight away, and no password is asked for. Ending one link affects only its workspace.
Who | Where | Button |
|---|---|---|
The linked account | Linked workspaces, Granted to you tab | Disconnect |
The workspace owner | Linked workspaces, Granted by you tab | Remove access |
Tarkle shows Workspace disconnected. or Access removed. after you click. A link also stops working on its own when:
the workspace is closed or deleted,
the workspace's owner changes, or
the linked account is closed. Closing the account ends the links it holds as the linked account. To close your account, see How to delete your Tarkle account.
