File requests collect files from clients or anyone with a link, straight into a workspace folder.

What are file requests in Tarkle?

File requests are the reverse of a transfer. Instead of sending files to someone, you create a link that lets other people send files to you. Everything lands in a folder in your workspace.

The Requests page

The Requests page lists the file requests of your workspace. Above the list, three cards show Requests, Page views and Uploads. A search box sits in the toolbar next to the New request button. A request stays open until its deadline passes or you close it.

How a file request works

In the New request window you give the request a title, a description and a destination folder. You can also set a deadline and choose whether you get an email when files arrive. You then copy the link from the three-dot menu of the request row, or email it from there with Send by email. Whoever opens the link sees your title and description and an area to drag files into. Their files go into the folder you chose, with no email attachments to download or forward.

You do not need to be online when someone uploads. The files appear in your Files as soon as the upload finishes. If Send email notifications when files are uploaded is ticked in the window, you get an email for each upload.

Who can upload

A request you create from the Requests page is public: anyone who has the link can upload, with no sign-in. Share the link only with the people you want files from. You can switch a request off at any time with Close request in its row menu, and turn it back on with Open request.

Limits

A deadline can be from one day to three years ahead. Upload limit in the row menu sets how much can be uploaded to a request. Your organization's plan sets how many requests can be active at once: Free allows one, and Pro and Agency allow unlimited active requests.
