Team folders
Each team in a workspace gets its own folder, its own members and an optional storage budget.
Team folders split a workspace into teams. Each team has its own folder, its own members and, if you want, a storage budget. Use them when groups in one workspace work on different things, such as Marketing, Finance or one team per project. Team folders are available on Pro and Agency. See plans and prices for what each plan costs.
What a team includes
Every team gets three protected folders when it is created: a main folder, an Uploaded folder and a Received folder. To open the main folder, choose See folder in the team's row menu. On the Files page, when you select several items to delete or move to the bin, Tarkle skips team folders and tells you they are protected.
Each team has an access setting. Everyone shares the team with the whole workspace. Members only limits it to the workspace members you select.
The storage budget is optional. A budget is set aside from the workspace's storage, so the storage left for the rest of the workspace goes down by the same amount. Files in a team's folders count toward that team's storage used. To see how budgets add up, read how team storage works in Tarkle.
The Team folders page shows a Team usage card with the storage the teams have used, the total reserved, the percentage used and the storage still available. The table lists each team with its used storage, its budget and who it is assigned to. The Transfers and Requests cards show the totals and the count for the last 30 days.
Create a team
Only Owners and Admins of the workspace can create a team. For other members, New team is disabled.
Open Team folders in your workspace.
Click New team.
Enter a Name of up to 120 characters.
Click Icon and pick an icon and a colour.
Add a Description of up to 120 characters, or click the wand icon to write one with AI.
Enter a Budget in GB or TB, or leave it empty for no limit.
Choose Access: Members only or Everyone. With Members only, select the people under Team members.
Click Create team.
The Budget field shows how much storage is still available to allocate. A budget above that amount is refused, so lower it or leave the field empty. A team without a budget shows Unlimited in the table.
Note: If AI is not included in your plan, the wand opens the upgrade dialog instead of writing a description.
Change a team's storage
Click Assign storage above the team table, or open a team's row menu and choose Assign storage.
Choose the team in the Team field.
Enter the Budget in GB or TB.
Check the Current, After this change and Workspace storage left rows.
Click Assign.
Assign storage stays disabled until the workspace has at least one team. A budget above the storage left in your workspace is refused, and a budget cannot go below what the team has already used.
Edit or delete a team
Open a team's row menu to see its actions: Open team, See folder, Edit, Assign storage and Delete. Edit opens the Edit team form, and Save changes keeps what you changed.
To delete a team, choose Delete in its row menu and then click Delete team in the confirmation. Deleting releases the team's storage budget and removes team access. Files and folders stay and go back to workspace storage.
Who can use Team folders
Team folders are on Pro and Agency, and Agency includes everything in Pro. On Free, opening Team folders shows the upgrade dialog, and creating a team is refused. Free is for one person. The plans and prices page lists the monthly and yearly prices.
The people you add to a team are members of the workspace. To invite someone, use Members. The roles a member can have are explained in Team roles.
What happens next
After you create a team, it appears in the team table with its access and budget. Choose Open team in its row menu to open the team and its folders.
