What is an audio transfer page?

The audio transfer page is the public player where listeners play, preview, download or buy your tracks.

The audio transfer page is the page your listeners open when you share an audio transfer. It holds a player for your tracks, your workspace branding, and any description, body text or button you added to the transfer. This article explains what the page shows, what listeners can do on it, and how the download setting you choose changes it.

What the page shows

The player is at the top of the page. If the transfer has a cover image, it appears beside the player. Without one, a gradient panel with the workspace name shows instead. The player and its buttons use the workspace's accent color.

Below the player you see the transfer title, the creator's name, the created and updated dates, and the share and report buttons. The description comes next, if one was added, followed by the body text and the call-to-action button when the transfer has them. The call-to-action button opens its link in a new tab.

Playing the tracks

Each track plays in the browser. The waveform shows the track you have selected, and clicking it moves playback to that point. Above the waveform, the page shows the track number and the total size, for example Track 1 of 3. Below the waveform are the Play or Pause button, the back and forward 15 seconds buttons, a mute button, and a speed button that cycles through 0.75×, 1×, 1.25×, 1.5× and 2×.

When a transfer has more than one track, a list below the player shows each track with its play button, its name, its format and size, and its duration. The list starts with the first 10 tracks. If there are more, a button labeled Show all, followed by the number of tracks, shows the rest. When a track ends, the next one starts, and after the last track playback returns to the first.

Download setting

The download setting is chosen when you create the transfer, and listen only is the default. For the steps, see How to create an audio transfer.

  • Listen only: the page has no download button, and download requests are refused.

  • Free download: the page shows a FREE Downloads badge and a Download all button that saves every track as one ZIP file. Each track's menu also has Download track.

  • Paid download: the button reads Buy for followed by the currency and price, or Buy now when the price is zero. Choosing it opens checkout, where the buyer pays through Stripe.

On a paid download, a file is delivered only after a completed purchase. If you set a maximum number of sales when you create the transfer, download requests are refused once the number of completed purchases reaches that number.

Preview before purchase

On a paid download, the play button reads Preview. When the transfer has a preview length, playback stops at that point on every track and checkout opens. Without a preview length, there is no cutoff. The preview length is set when you charge for the transfer, as described in How to charge for an audio transfer.

Charging for access is a Pro feature. It also needs Stripe connected and paid transfers turned on. The pricing page lists the plans, and if a message stops you, Why can't I turn on paid transfers? explains each one.

Who can open the page

A transfer can require a password, an email address, or both. Each gate appears before the player.

  • With a password, the page reads This audio is password protected and asks for the Password, with an Unlock button.

  • With an email gate, the page asks for Your name (optional) and Your email address, and the Access files button opens the player.

The same gates protect the audio files, so a track is not served until they are passed. Signed-in owners and team members of the workspace skip both gates. A transfer that is disabled shows a not-found page, and so does a transfer past its expiry date.

Views and activity

Each visit to the page adds one to the transfer's view count and updates its last viewed time. The visit is also written to your workspace's activity log, with the visitor's country and city when the request includes them. If Slack is connected and view alerts are turned on, each visit also posts to Slack.
