Acronis cyber files alternative: a checklist for resellers
Six checks for a file sharing platform you resell, and how five vendors compare.
Looking for an Acronis Cyber Files alternative to resell under your own name? Best for MSPs that also sell backup and security: stay with Acronis. Best for a hosted file sharing platform with your own brand, domain and customer plans: Tarkle Reseller or Reseller Pro. Best for a vendor that offers an on-premise version: RushFiles, as it describes on its own site. We make Tarkle, so read this as one vendor's view, and check the sources.

What is Acronis Cyber Files for resellers?
Acronis describes Cyber Files Cloud as a file sync and share service for service providers, integrated with its Cyber Protect Cloud agent (Acronis datasheet, 16 February 2022). Its platform page now calls the whole platform "Acronis Cyber Platform" and says service providers create customer tenants from a partner account, with white labelling in the branding settings (Acronis platform page, read November 2026).
Acronis says licensed products are billed on actual usage in arrears, per GB or per workload, and publishes no Cyber Files price. It runs more than 50 data centres, but I could not confirm that you can choose a region for Cyber Files. Acronis also says a dedicated on-premise management server exists, only through subscription licensing and without some cloud features.

One more thing to verify with Acronis directly: RushFiles, a competitor of Tarkle, writes that Acronis Cyber Files (formerly Acronis Files Advanced) reached end of life on 31 December 2025, with extended support to 31 December 2026. We could not confirm that notice on an Acronis page, so ask your Acronis contact for the dates before you plan a move.
The six-point checklist for a file sharing platform you resell
Use these six questions with every vendor, Acronis and Tarkle included. Write down the answer, not the brochure line.
1. Branding
Ask what your customers see: your name, logo and colours, your own domain, emails from your sender address. Then ask what still shows the vendor's name. The Tarkle reseller terms say customer-facing surfaces (workspaces, share pages, file requests, portals, Brand pages, Event pages and notification emails) carry your brand, with one required attribution in the legal pages. The Reseller Dashboard keeps Tarkle branding, but your customers never see it.
Open the vendor's terms and privacy pages on a demo platform before you sign. The legal pages are where a leftover vendor name usually shows up.
2. Customer management
You need a place to create a customer, give it storage, see its status and close it. On Tarkle, each customer gets a workspace from your allowance, and you can add customers by hand or turn on open sign-up on your domain. The reseller console lists each workspace as Trial, Active, No payment, Past due, Expired or Inactive.
3. How customers sign in
Check the method, the domain and any identity needs, such as Active Directory or single sign-on. Customers sign in on your domain with an emailed code, with no password to reset. The platform does not list Active Directory or single sign-on as a feature, so if your customers insist on them, it is the wrong fit. Read how passwordless sign-in works before you decide.
4. Billing and plans
Ask who sets customer prices, who takes the payment and whether the vendor takes a cut. With Acronis, billing to the partner is usage-based. With Tarkle, you set your own plans and prices with Stripe. The reseller terms say Tarkle takes no revenue share, transaction fee or commission on payments between you and your customers, and does not process those payments. For what you pay Tarkle, see the reseller pricing page.
5. Data location
Ask where customer files are stored and whether you can choose. Tarkle offers storage in Europe, the United States, Asia-Pacific and Oceania, and each reseller platform keeps its customer workspaces in one region. That is a real limit if you serve customers in two regions with different rules. Ask Tarkle which region your platform will use before you buy. The storage region page explains the choice.
6. Support and responsibility
Ask who answers an end customer at 9 am on Monday. The reseller terms put commercial support requests with you and technical issues with Tarkle, through a support route. Reseller has live chat and email support, and Reseller Pro adds priority support through Slack.
One more item for MSPs: sales territory. The reseller plans include an authorized sales territory (one on Reseller, up to three on Reseller Pro), and the terms bar selling outside approved territories or through sub-resellers.

RushFiles
RushFiles is a competitor of Tarkle and has written the Acronis article itself. It says its platform suits MSPs who manage separate customer environments, keep control of packaging, pricing and billing, offer SaaS or on-premise, and move users in bulk with a CSV import and a bulk upload tool. It suggests a pilot with one customer first, which is good advice for any platform. It also says the fit is weaker where Acronis is used mainly for protocol-level or client-specific file access. The limit: its own checklist table leaves most rows for the MSP to validate, and I did not check its partner pricing.

FileCloud and ShareFile
FileCloud sells white-label service-provider editions under a service provider licensing agreement. The discount table comes from a search excerpt of its partner program document, so check the numbers on its partner page. Its discounts are set by user tier, so work out the cost for your own customer count before you commit. ShareFile has an MSP area to add tenants and set plan types and storage zones. I found no white label or partner pricing on the pages I read, which is a limit for a reseller who has to quote prices. Our ShareFile comparison goes deeper.
Who should choose which
Choose Acronis when your customers also buy backup, security or remote management from you. Cyber Files sits inside that platform, and Tarkle has no backup and no security suite. The trade-off is that Acronis publishes no Cyber Files price and ties the file service to its wider platform.
Choose RushFiles or FileCloud when a customer needs an on-premise or self-hosted version. Tarkle is a hosted service only.
Choose Tarkle when you want one hosted product that you brand and sell on your own domain. Reseller suits a first platform with one territory. Reseller Pro adds more customer workspaces and storage, up to three territories and an affiliate program. If you serve your own clients rather than sell to others, the Agency plan is the one to read about, see white label for agencies.
Where Tarkle falls short
It is not a replacement for everything Acronis does. There is no backup, no on-premise version, and no Active Directory or single sign-on listed. Each reseller platform has one storage region and one active domain. Reseller plans have a set number of customer workspaces and pooled storage, so check that your customer count fits. We have not documented a bulk user and folder migration tool for resellers, so ask before you commit if migration size matters.
Moving customers off Acronis Cyber Files
List each customer's shares, users, permission exceptions and any mapped paths or scripts. RushFiles lists the same checks.
Pick one small customer as a pilot and build their workspace by hand.
Ask Tarkle how to bring that customer's files in, and test a download from the customer's side.
Write your customer plans and tell customers about retention and about the legal page attribution.
Move the rest in batches, then close the old service on the date Acronis confirms.
Run Acronis and the new platform side by side for one billing cycle for your pilot customer. You see real support questions before they reach all your customers.
