Reseller vs Agency plan: which one fits your business
Pick Agency, Reseller or Reseller Pro by asking who pays for the accounts, with prices and limits side by side.
The reseller vs Agency plan choice comes down to one question: do you deliver files to your own clients, or do you sell file sharing accounts to other people? If you deliver, Agency fits. If you sell, Reseller or Reseller Pro fits. Both put your name and domain in front of the people who use the platform, but they are built for different jobs.
Tarkle is hosted only. There is no self-hosted version, so both plans run on Tarkle's infrastructure under your brand. This guide covers who buys each plan, what it includes, what it is not for, and where to start.
The one question that decides it
Ask yourself who pays for the accounts.
You deliver to clients. You run a design studio, a marketing agency or a video team. Your clients get a branded place for their files, and you charge them for your work, not for storage. That is the Agency plan.
You sell accounts. You are an MSP, an IT provider, a web host or a software business. People or companies sign up to a file sharing service that carries your name, and you set the plans and prices they pay. That is Reseller or Reseller Pro.
The two plans are not held together. An organization holds Agency or a reseller plan, not both. Reseller already includes everything in Pro and Agency, so a reseller has no need for a second plan.
Reseller vs Agency plan at a glance
Prices are in US dollars and come from the live Agency plan pricing and the reseller plans and pricing pages.
Agency | Reseller | Reseller Pro | |
|---|---|---|---|
Who buys it | Agencies serving their own clients | Businesses selling file sharing under their own brand | Growing reseller businesses |
Monthly | $59 a month | $99 a month plus a $99 one-time setup fee | $189 a month plus a $189 one-time setup fee |
Yearly | $49 a month, billed $588 a year | $89 a month, billed $1,068 a year | $179 a month, billed $2,148 a year |
Workspaces | 20 for clients | 50 customer workspaces | 100 customer workspaces |
Storage | 6 TB | 6 TB pooled | 15 TB pooled |
White label | 100% white-label platform on your domain | Your brand on customer-facing pages | Same as Reseller |
Your own plans and prices | No | Yes, with your own Stripe account | Yes, with your own Stripe account |
Sales territories | Not applicable | One | Up to three |
Support | Everything in Pro | Live chat and email | Priority support on Slack |
The setup fee applies to the monthly Reseller and Reseller Pro plans only. It is charged once and equals the first month's price. Yearly billing has no setup fee.
Compare the yearly prices first. Yearly billing removes the setup fee on the reseller plans, so the monthly and yearly paths cost very differently in the first year.
Who the Agency plan is for
Agency gives you everything in Pro, plus 20 workspaces for clients, 6 TB of storage, a 100% white-label platform and a client provisioning portal. Your clients sign in and manage their files and team on your own domain, for example cloud.acme.com, and "Powered by Tarkle" becomes your agency name.
You create the client workspaces and invite each client in. There is no public sign-up page on Agency, and you do not set prices for the platform itself. The 6 TB is one shared pool, and you can set a storage limit per workspace so one client cannot use it all. The 20-workspace limit counts your own workspaces as well as client workspaces; closed workspaces do not count.

Who Reseller and Reseller Pro are for
A reseller runs its own branded file sharing platform and sells it. You set your own customer plans and prices, you connect your own Stripe account, and customers can register themselves or you can set them up by hand. Tarkle takes no revenue share on what your customers pay you, and you keep the customer relationship.
Reseller includes 50 customer workspaces, 6 TB of pooled storage, one authorized sales territory and a built-in referral program. Reseller Pro moves to 100 customer workspaces, 15 TB of pooled storage, up to three authorized sales territories, a built-in affiliate program, MCP, Slack and WordPress plugins, and priority support on Slack. If you outgrow the included workspaces or storage, extra usage is billed monthly: $79 per extra 50 workspaces and $69 per extra 10 TB.
The model is described in resell Tarkle as your own platform. For the MSP angle, see white label file sharing for MSPs.
What each plan is not for
Agency is not for selling accounts. If you want strangers to sign up and pay you for storage, Agency does not give you your own customer plans and prices or a self-registration page. That job belongs to Reseller.
Reseller is not the cheap way to serve your own clients. If you only deliver work to 15 clients, you pay for customer workspaces, territories and selling tools you will not use. Agency costs less and matches the job.
Reseller Pro is not for a first test. Move to it when 50 workspaces, 6 TB or one territory is clearly too small. Reseller to Reseller Pro is a move up, so you can start lower.
Neither plan is a self-hosted product. Both run on Tarkle's hosted service. A customer who needs hosting on its own servers needs a different tool.
Reseller terms also say that you may not make claims about security, uptime or compliance beyond what Tarkle documents, and that you may not describe the platform as technology built entirely by you. Read the reseller terms before you sign.
Count your buyers, not your clients. If the people paying you for file sharing are not people you already do other work for, you are in reseller territory.
Which plan fits your business
A studio or agency with 20 clients or fewer: Agency.
An agency that wants to charge clients for the file sharing platform itself, with its own price list: Reseller, because Agency has no customer plans.
An MSP, IT provider or web host selling to many customers in one market: Reseller.
A reseller selling in several markets, or one that needs more workspaces and storage: Reseller Pro.
A software business adding file sharing to its own product line: Reseller, then Reseller Pro as customers grow.
Do not buy both. If you hold Agency and need to sell, the move is to a reseller plan, not to a second plan next to it. If you are unsure which side you are on, write to support@tarkle.com before you pay.
Where to start
If you deliver to clients, review the Agency plan on the pricing page and buy at checkout. If you sell accounts, open the reseller plans page and compare Reseller with Reseller Pro. For how the selling side works in practice, read how to resell cloud storage under your own brand.
