Your profile holds your own details: photo, full name, username, email address and primary workspace. You edit them on the Personal account page. The page only edits the profile of the person who is signed in, so a workspace owner cannot change another member's profile from it.

Steps

  1. Open the menu. At the bottom of the sidebar, click the block that shows your photo and name.

  2. Open Personal account. Click [Personal account](/dashboard/account). The Basics card holds your profile.

  3. Change your photo. Click Change and pick an image from your device. A preview appears, and nothing is uploaded until you save.

  4. Edit your name. Type it in Full name, which is required.

  5. Edit your email. Type the new address in Email. The next sections explain the code this needs.

  6. Choose a primary workspace. Pick one in the Primary workspace list.

  7. Save. Click Save changes. A Profile updated message appears.

Tarkle stores the first word of your full name as your first name and everything after it as your last name. A single word is saved as a first name only. To remove a photo you saved earlier, click Delete. It is active only when a saved photo exists, and the removal also waits for Save changes.

Change your username

The Username field is where you change your username. Type the new one. After a short pause, a green check means it is available and a red cross means it is not. Then click Save next to the field, or press Enter. The username saves on its own, so you do not need Save changes for it.

A username has 3 to 30 characters: lowercase letters, numbers, hyphens and underscores. It must start and end with a letter or number, and it cannot start with "usr_". Tarkle lowercases what you type. Reserved words such as admin, support and billing are refused, and so is a username someone else already has. If you changed your username recently, Tarkle asks you to wait before changing it again.

Change your email

When the address in Email differs from the saved one, Save changes opens a dialog titled Change your email address?. It says a code goes to the new address and that your saved email stays active until you enter the code. The same change is also explained on its own in How to change your sign-in email.

  1. Click Send code. A 6-digit code is emailed to the new address.

  2. Enter the code and click Change email. "Your email address was changed." appears.

The code works once and is valid for 10 minutes. There is no resend button: to get a new code, click Cancel and then Save changes again. After 5 wrong codes, the next attempt is refused, even with the right code, and the code is cancelled. If you request codes too often, Tarkle asks you to try again in a few minutes. If another account already uses the address, you see "This email address is already in use". Tarkle also sends a notice to your old address after the change.

Your name, photo and primary workspace are saved only after the email change is done. If you cancel the dialog, those edits are not saved either.

Note: Email is also read-only when the account was created with a sign-in provider such as Google, and it stays that way. An account created with email keeps a changeable address, even after Google is linked to it.

What happens next

Once the page refreshes, your new name, photo and primary workspace show. The Basics card also shows the date you joined. To change the workspace itself, such as its name or logo, see How to update your Tarkle workspace settings.
