How to pause or disable a transfer in Tarkle

Pause a transfer to mark it Disabled, and enable it again whenever you need it.

Pausing a transfer keeps it in your list and marks it as Disabled. Use it when you want to stop access for a while without removing the transfer. You can enable it again from the same menu at any time.

What pausing a transfer does

The change applies as soon as you click the menu item, and there is no confirmation step. The transfer then shows the Disabled badge. A direct download link for a disabled transfer returns a "Transfer not found" error until you enable it again.

Pausing changes only the status. The transfer keeps its files, its settings and its view and download counts. Pausing works on one transfer at a time. An expiry date you set still applies: once it passes, the transfer also shows the Expired badge.

How to pause a transfer from the Transfers list

  1. Open Transfers.

  2. Click the three-dot menu at the end of the transfer's row.

  3. Click the pause item, the one just above Delete.

How to pause a transfer from its detail page

  1. Open the transfer by clicking its name in the Transfers list.

  2. Click the three-dot menu in the header of the transfer page.

  3. Click Pause transfer.

A message confirms the change, and the transfer shows the Disabled badge.

How to enable a transfer again

On a disabled transfer, the menu item on the transfer page reads Enable Transfer. Click it and the message "Transfer enabled successfully" appears. The Disabled badge goes away and the transfer is active again. In the Transfers list, the same menu item enables a disabled transfer.

Who can pause or enable a transfer

Only the person who created the transfer can pause or enable it. A workspace owner who acts through a linked account can do it too. Other team members get an error and the transfer does not change.

Pausing or deleting

Pausing keeps the transfer, so you can enable it later. To remove a transfer instead, see How to delete a transfer. If you want the link to stop working on a set day, read about file transfer expiration dates.

What happens next

The transfer stays in your list with the Disabled badge until you enable it again.
