Recipients in Tarkle: what they need and what happens when you send
Recipients need no Tarkle account, and this page shows what they receive and how many people one send reaches.
A recipient is anyone you send a file transfer to in Tarkle. This article explains what a recipient needs to open a transfer, what the email they receive contains, how many addresses one send accepts, and how recipients connect to your contacts.
What a recipient needs
A recipient does not need a Tarkle account to open a transfer. They open the link from the email and download the files without logging in.
Some transfers ask for more first. The sender can add a password to a transfer. The sender can also ask for an email address before the download starts: the recipient fills in their email address, with their name if they want to, and clicks Access files. A transfer can have an expiry date, and its link stops working after that date. To set a password or an expiry date, see How to password protect and set an expiry on a file transfer.
A sender can also charge for access through their own Stripe account.
What the recipient receives
Tarkle sends one email to each address. The subject starts with "We shared" and the number of files. The email says "{Workspace name} has shared N files with you." It also shows the description the sender wrote, if there is one, the number of files and their total size, and Available until with the expiry date when one is set. The button reads View N files and opens the transfer.
How many addresses you can send to
The Send this transfer by email dialog accepts up to 100 addresses at a time. Tarkle emails the first 100 addresses in the list. To reach more people, send the same transfer again with another group of addresses.
On Free, an organization can create 15 new transfers a month. See plans and pricing for what Pro and Agency include.
Recipients and contacts
You do not need a contact before you send. When you send to an address that has no contact in your workspace, Tarkle creates one. Later sends to that address use the same contact. A person who enters an email on an email gate is saved as a contact too. Each email address has one contact in each workspace. For more about contacts, see Contacts.
Send a transfer by email
Open Transfers in your workspace. If you have no transfer yet, follow How to create a file transfer first.
Open the row menu of the transfer and click Send email.
In the box, type an email address or pick a contact's name. Add each recipient this way.
Click Send email in the dialog.
Tarkle then shows the message Email sent to N recipient(s), with the number of recipients it emailed.
