What is the difference between a Tarkle account and a workspace?
Your account is your personal login, and a workspace holds your files, sharing, branding and team.
Your Tarkle account is your personal login and profile. A workspace is a separate space with its own files, branding and team, and one account can open more than one workspace. Your organization holds the plan. This page explains each part and where to change it.
Your Tarkle account
You sign in to Tarkle with a code sent to your email address, or with Google. The sign-in methods on your account are listed in the Login service card on the Personal account page. To open that page, choose Personal account from the account menu in the sidebar.
The Basics card on that page holds your name and email address. You can also change your profile picture there. The profile article explains each field: How to update your profile on Tarkle.
To change your email address, enter the new address and click Send code. Tarkle sends a code to the new address, and your email address stays the same until you enter that code and click Change email. If your account is linked to Google, the email field is locked.
Your workspace
A workspace holds its own files, transfer links, branding, domains and team members. When you create a workspace, the form suggests a data residency region based on your location, and you can change it. The regions are US Global, Europe (GDPR), United States, Hong Kong and Australia.
You can change the region of a workspace later with a data region move. The move is available on Pro and Agency, and only the owner of the organization can buy it. Each workspace can buy one move. Use Change region to choose the new region under Move my files to, then click Continue to checkout. The move can take up to 5 business days. All transfer links are disabled during the move, so you reactivate existing transfer links by hand afterwards.
Your organization and plan
The plan belongs to the organization, not to a single workspace. Billing is handled at the organization level on the Billing page.
Switching between workspaces
The workspace switcher sits at the bottom of the left sidebar and shows the name of the workspace you are in. Click it to open the menu. When your account has another workspace, the menu heading reads Switch workspace and lists your workspaces. Click a workspace to open it. All workspaces opens the list on your account home. A workspace linked from another account carries a Linked label.
To add a workspace to your account, follow How to create an additional workspace in Tarkle.
Linked workspaces
An account can also use a workspace owned by another account, without switching accounts. On the Personal account page, find the Linked workspaces card. Only an account that owns a workspace can click Link workspace. The workspace stays owned by the other account, and either account can end the link at any time.
