What are Files and file transfers in Tarkle?
Files holds your stored files, and a file transfer is the link you send so someone can open them.
Files is where your files are stored in your workspace. A file transfer is the link you send so that someone can open the files you chose. This page explains how the two work together and what each plan allows.
Files holds your files
Your files are kept in Files, where you can organize them in folders. Deleted files go to the Bin, which is described below.
A file transfer sends them
To send files, open the New Transfer modal in Transfers and select File transfer. How to create a file transfer walks through the steps. When the transfer is created, copy its link and send it to your recipient.
How a transfer uses your files
A transfer holds files and folders from Files, and external links such as Google Drive, Figma or Dropbox links. To add files you already stored, choose Existing in the New Transfer modal, then search and select them. A transfer points to each file it includes, so one file can be part of more than one transfer.
Choices for each transfer
On the last step, tick Password protected to set a password, or tick Expiration date and pick a day. Setting either is optional, and the latest day you can pick is three years from today. How to password protect and set an expiry on a file transfer shows both steps.
Paid transfers cannot use a password, burn after read, email gating, view only or an expiration date, because payment is the way in. Paid transfers explains how you charge for access.
