How to create a brand page
Create a brand page from Brands, fill in each tab, then save a draft or publish it.
A brand page holds one brand's logos, colors, fonts and other assets in one place that you can share. You build it in a form with eight tabs, and you can save it as a draft until it is ready.
Steps
Open Brands. Open Brands in the workspace you want to use.
Start a new brand. Click Create brand, or Create brand page on an empty list.
Optional: type a website. In Start from a website, type the brand's domain, for example
acme.com.Optional: look it up. Click the Analyze this website button next to the field, or press Enter. The lookup only fills in the form, so nothing is saved until you save the brand.
Fill in the tabs. They are Basics, Links, Logos, Colors, Fonts, Assets, SEO and Settings.
Save as draft. Click Save as draft to finish later.
Or publish. Click Publish when the page is ready. After either save, you return to the Brands list.
Logos, colors and fonts are added in the Logos, Colors and Fonts tabs. How to add logos, colors and fonts to a brand page shows how. Guidelines, team, press and asset collections are added on the Assets tab, as explained in How to add guidelines, team, press and asset collections.
What Start from a website fills in
Start from a website fills in the name, summary, story, industry, size, company type, year founded, website, social links, colors, headline and body fonts, logo, icon and banner. It also fills in the slug, which it takes from the name. It fills empty fields only, so it never overwrites what you typed. Fonts come only as Google fonts, and only when you have not uploaded a font file. When the site has no separate icon, the logo is used as the icon.
It does not fill in the SEO fields or anything in Settings. Running a lookup again replaces the values the previous lookup filled in, as long as you have not changed them. When the lookup works, Tarkle shows "Filled in from the website. Check each step before you publish." If it fails, Tarkle shows the error and you can fill in the fields yourself.
What you need to save or publish
Draft: a brand name, a slug and a name for every asset collection. The slug is the brand's address name. It can use lowercase letters, numbers and single hyphens, with no spaces, dots or other symbols, and it can be up to 48 characters. A slug can be used once per workspace.
Publish: everything a draft needs, plus a summary, a story, a website, an icon, a main logo, a primary color, a headline font, a body font and a banner. If access in Settings is a password, enter the password. If access is restricted, choose the contact or organization that can open the page. Who can open a brand page? explains the access choices.
Note: a draft saved with access set to a password, but no password typed, is saved with restricted access instead. Enter the password before you publish.
Good to know
On an existing brand that is still a draft, the buttons are Save draft and Publish. On a published brand they are Save changes and Unpublish, which turns the brand back into a draft.
While you create a brand, the form is kept in your browser for 24 hours, including a password you typed. Uploaded files are not kept, so stay on the page until you save.
If a save fails, Tarkle shows the error and keeps the form open with what you typed. The brand itself is saved first, so a save that fails after that point can leave the brand already created. If a retry says "Brand with this slug already exists", open Brands to check before you try again.
A brand page opens at

Plan limits
Brand pages belong to the organization, and its workspaces share the limit. On Free, the organization can have 1 brand page, and drafts count toward it. Pro and Agency have no limit. Deleting a brand frees its place.
At the limit, the Create brand button is hidden on the Brands list, and opening a new brand sends you back to the Brands list. If a save is refused because of the limit, Tarkle shows "You have reached your brand page limit for this plan." To add more brand pages on Free, move the organization to Pro. How to upgrade your organization from Free to Pro explains how, and pricing lists the plans.
On Pro and Agency, a brand page can have a domain of its own. Free has none.
What happens next
After you save, Tarkle shows "Draft saved" for a draft or "Brand created" when you publish. Then it returns you to the Brands list, where the brand now appears. Open the brand to add more detail. To let a client see it, assign it to a contact or organization in Settings, as explained in How do I share a brand page with a client?.
