Embed a file request on your website

Copy a file request's embed code and paste it on your website, so visitors upload files without leaving your page.

You can show a file request form on your own web page. Visitors upload files through the form without leaving your site. If file requests are new to you, start with What are file requests in Tarkle?.

If you have not created a request yet, follow File requests in Tarkle: how to collect files from clients first. Requests made in the request form are public, so the embedded form does not ask visitors to sign in. The Embed request entry in the menu is available on Pro and Agency. It does not appear in the menu on the Free plan. See the pricing page for the plans.

Copy the embed code

  1. Open the file request list. Each file request belongs to one workspace, so open the workspace that holds the request first.

  2. Click the menu button at the end of the request's row.

  3. Click Embed request. Tarkle copies the embed code to your clipboard.

  4. Paste the code into the HTML of your web page, where the form should appear.

The code is an iframe that loads the request's public address with /embed added to the end, followed by a short script. The iframe spans the full width of your page and is at least 480 pixels tall. The form reports its height to the page, and the script sets the frame to that height, so the frame grows and shrinks with the form. Keep the script with the iframe. Without it, the frame stays at 480 pixels.

Several requests on one page

Each embed code listens only for the height of its own request, so you can paste more than one request on the same page. Copy the code for each request from its own row in the file request list.

When the embedded form stops loading

A request stops loading in the embed when you close it or when its deadline passes. To close a request, open its row menu and click Close request. Click Open request in the same menu to open it again.

The deadline is optional. To set or change it, open the row menu, click Edit, and change the Deadline field. Leave the field empty for no deadline. To load the form again after a deadline has passed, change the deadline to a date that has not passed yet. Request deadlines and limits describes deadlines in more detail.

What happens next

After you paste the code, the form appears on your page for visitors. To manage the request, return to the file request list.
