Free white label file sharing: what is free and what is not

See what Free, Pro and Agency brand, and which plan removes the Powered by Tarkle line.

Free white label file sharing on Tarkle starts with your own brand, at $0 and with no credit card. The Free plan puts your logo and accent color on the pages your clients open, and gives your file links a custom domain. A small Powered by Tarkle line stays on each page. That line comes off on Pro, and the full white label platform, with your name in place of Tarkle's, is the Agency plan. This guide shows what each plan brands, so you pay only for the part you need.

What does white label file sharing mean?

In file sharing, white label means your name replaces the vendor's on the pages your clients see. A logo on a transfer page is branding. Running the whole platform on your own domain, with your name in place of the vendor's, is a full white label setup. The two are separate steps, so the plan you need depends on which one you want.

What does Free let you brand?

The Free plan covers 1 workspace for 1 person, 5 GB of cloud storage and an upload limit of up to 1 GB per file. You can share and request files, collect client feedback and approval, and use custom domain and branding.

Branding on Free comes down to two settings:

  • Logo and accent color. Upload a logo and choose an accent color in your branding settings. The custom branding page covers the transfer pages, request pages and portal where they show.

  • One custom domain for file links. Free includes one custom domain, so your links can open on an address you own, like files.yourstudio.com. A Brand Page on Free has no custom domain of its own. The custom domain page has the details.

Two things stay fixed on Free. The Powered by Tarkle line is always on: its switch in the Backlink card is disabled, so every public page keeps a small Powered by Tarkle line. A custom favicon is a Pro feature, and on Free your pages show Tarkle's default icon.

Set your logo, accent color and domain on Free before you pay for anything, then send yourself a test link. If a small Powered by Tarkle line is fine for your clients, you may never need to upgrade.

Free also has monthly limits: 15 transfers a month, 1 active file request form and 50 request submissions a month. Check them against how many files you send. For a wider checklist, read the free file sharing for business guide.

Is white label file sharing free anywhere?

Not in the full sense on Tarkle. Free gives you real branding and one custom domain for file links, and the Powered by Tarkle line stays on. To judge any free plan, ask three questions: does my own domain work on the links, does the vendor's name still show on the page my client opens, and does the platform carry my name? On Free, Tarkle answers yes to the first question and no to the next two. Pro changes the second answer, and Agency changes the third.

What does Pro add over Free?

Pro costs $29 per month, or $19 per month billed yearly ($228 per year). It includes 2 workspaces, 3 TB of cloud storage, an upload limit of up to 200 GB, team members with no seat limit, team folders and storage, and a fully branded client portal. In the client portal, each client signs in with their email and sees only what you shared with them.

Pro adds two branding changes:

  1. A favicon. A custom favicon is a Pro feature, so on Pro your own icon replaces Tarkle's default one.

  2. No Powered by Tarkle line. On the monthly or yearly Pro plan, you can switch off the Powered by Tarkle line in the Backlink card. The help article on turning it off covers the steps.

After you switch the line off, open one of your links in a private window to see what a client sees.

A full white label platform is a different step, covered by the Agency plan below.

What does white label on Agency mean?

Agency costs $59 per month, or $49 per month billed yearly ($588 per year). It includes everything in Pro, plus 20 client workspaces, 6 TB of cloud storage, a 100% white-label platform and a client provisioning portal.

On Agency, your clients log in and manage their files and team on your own domain, like cloud.acme.com, and the Powered by Tarkle backlink becomes Powered by your agency. The white label for agencies page puts the change in one line: Replace Tarkle with your own name, logo, colours and domain, so clients see your platform.

The setup help gives the order: Set your name, logo, favicon and accent color, then turn on White label on the Agency plan. White label applies only while the organization is active, White label is switched on and the Agency plan is in force. If the Agency plan stops being in force, white label stops applying.

Which plan gives you which brand?

You need

Plan

Price

Your logo, accent color and a custom domain on file links

Free

$0

No Powered by Tarkle line, a favicon and a branded client portal

Pro

$19 per month billed yearly, or $29 per month

Your own name in place of Tarkle's, on your own domain

Agency

$49 per month billed yearly, or $59 per month

Start on Free if you send files to a few clients and a small line on the page is fine. Move to Pro when the line has to go or your clients need a branded portal. Move to Agency when you serve many clients and want them on a platform that carries your name. Agency includes 20 client workspaces, so it suits a business that runs several client workspaces.

Common mistakes

  • Treating a logo as white label. A logo on a transfer page is branding. Check whether the Powered by Tarkle line or the vendor's name still shows on the page your client opens.

  • Expecting the line to go on Free. The switch is fixed on Free. Pro lets you turn it off in the Backlink card.

  • Skipping a test link. Open a link in a private window, the way a client would, before you send it.

What to remember about Tarkle

Tarkle's Free plan gives you your own logo, accent color and one custom domain for file links, for $0 with no credit card, and the Powered by Tarkle line stays on. Pro lets you switch that line off and adds a branded client portal, and Agency runs the platform on your own domain under your name. Start for free and compare the plans before you upgrade.
