White label file sharing for agencies: a checklist
A plain definition of white label file sharing, a six-point checklist for agencies and where Tarkle's Agency plan fits.
White label file sharing means your clients send, receive and open files on a platform that carries your name, logo, colours and web address instead of the vendor's. For an agency, it is the difference between "here is a link from a tool" and "here is our client area". This guide gives you a plain definition, a six-point checklist for file sharing for agencies, and a fair look at two tools.
What is white label file sharing?
The vendor runs the storage and the software. You put your brand on the front: the address in the browser bar, the logo on the page, the colours on the buttons and the name your clients read in the footer and in emails.
The term is used loosely. Some tools call a logo upload "white label". Others mean a platform your clients sign in to on your own domain, with the vendor's name gone from the places clients look. Both exist, and they are not the same job. Branding changes how a link looks. White label removes the vendor from what the client sees.
The checklist: six things to test before you pay
Put every vendor through the same six checks. Open a test link in a private window and read it the way a client would.
Your own domain. Do links and the client sign-in open on an address you own, such as files.youragency.com, not on the vendor's address? Ask what happens until the domain is verified, and whether it can be changed later.
Your own logo and colours. Is your logo on the transfer page, the request page and the portal? Does an accent colour carry through to buttons and the sign-in page?
Client sign-in. Can clients return to a place that is yours, sign in with their email and find their files, or do they only ever get one-off links?
Separation per client. Does each client see only what you shared with them? A setup with one workspace per client, each with its own storage and sharing, keeps one client's files apart from another's.
Price per client. Is the price per seat, per client or flat? Ask how many client workspaces the plan includes and what happens when you reach that number.
The "Powered by" backlink. Which plan replaces the vendor's name in the footer with yours, and does the vendor's name stay anywhere else?
Send yourself a file, request files from yourself, and invite a test client. Then write down every place that still names the vendor: tab title, footer, email sender, sign-in page. That list is your real answer to "is it white label?".
How Tarkle's Agency plan covers the checklist
Tarkle's Agency plan is for agencies that use Tarkle for their own clients. It includes everything in Pro.
For the domain, the Agency plan includes one organization domain, so clients open Tarkle at an address you own. To change an active domain, contact Tarkle support. Each workspace can also have its own custom domain, set in that workspace's settings.
For logo and colours, custom branding covers your logo, favicon and accent colour, and it is on the Free plan too. On Agency, add your logo, name, favicon and accent color under Branding. The plan is a 100% white-label platform.
For client sign-in, the client portal is a branded place where each client signs in with their email, sees only what you shared with them and sends files back. The client portal is included on Pro and Agency. Clients sign in with no password to remember.
For separation, a workspace for every client gives each client their own storage, sharing and portal. You can also give each client workspace its own storage amount, so one client cannot use your whole shared pool, as the storage help explains.
For price, Agency is $59 a month, or $49 a month billed yearly ($588 a year). It includes everything in Pro, 20 workspaces for your clients, 6 TB of cloud storage and a 100% white-label platform. Read the live numbers on the pricing page.

For the backlink, Agency replaces the "Powered by Tarkle" backlink with your agency name.
Check the end of a paid plan before you onboard clients. When a paid plan ends, it moves to the Free plan at the end of the paid period. If your content is over the Free limits, you will not be able to upload new files. You can still download your files for 30 days. The Terms give the full rules, so tell your clients before you cancel.
How does Box handle white label file sharing?
Box's admin console controls company-wide settings, such as branding. The facts below come from Box's own help pages.
Box's admin docs say custom branding is available on Business, Business Plus, Enterprise, Enterprise Plus and Enterprise Advanced plans. An admin can upload a logo and set a brand colour, and these replace the default Box logo and colour scheme in the product and in Box email notifications (Box's custom setup settings).
With a custom subdomain, logged-in users see an address such as acme.box.com instead of app.box.com.
People who open a link set to "People with the link" need no Box account.
Custom link endings are 12 to 30 characters, and Box says custom URLs are only available to Business and Enterprise accounts.

Against the checklist, Box covers logo and colour on its business and enterprise plans, and its example subdomain is acme.box.com. If your clients should see only your name on your own domain, test that point first. For a fuller side-by-side, read Tarkle vs Box.
Who is white label file sharing not for?
A paid white label plan fits agencies whose clients need to sign in under your name. If you only send a link now and then, the Free plan includes custom branding and a custom domain, so you can put your logo, colour and address on your own links first.
Tarkle is designed primarily for agencies, consulting firms and other client-facing businesses. If your main need is company-wide content governance for internal teams, check Box as well. If you want to resell file sharing under your own brand, the reseller platform and how to resell cloud storage under your own brand cover that job.
Next step
Run the six checks on two vendors with a real client in mind. If one of them is Tarkle, you can test it on the Free plan with your own logo, colour and domain, then send yourself a link. Move to Agency when clients need to sign in under your name on your own domain.
