Tarkle keeps your videos in the workspace library. To share a video, you create a video transfer. Each video transfer has its own link, and the person you send it to opens that link in a browser to watch the video on a player page. This article covers how to upload a video, how to manage videos in the library, and which settings the player page follows.

Upload a video

Videos are uploaded from the Videos page. Tarkle accepts MP4, WebM, MOV, AVI, or MKV files.

  1. Open Videos.

  2. Click Upload video.

  3. Click browse in the dialog and choose a video file. The upload starts as soon as the file is chosen.

  4. Wait until the dialog shows Video is uploaded and ready.

  5. Click Done.

When you click Done, Tarkle creates a video transfer for the video with a public link. The video stays in your library.

Free supports uploads and transfers up to 1 GB each. Pro and Agency support files up to 200 GB. Storage is 5 GB on Free, 3 TB on Pro and 6 TB on Agency. See plans and pricing for what each plan includes.

Manage videos in the library

The Videos page lists your videos, and the Search videos... box searches only videos.

Select one or more videos and a bar appears with Move, Smart rename, Download and Delete. Move puts the selected videos into a folder, and Smart rename renames them. Download starts a download of them. Delete moves them to the Bin.

Move and Smart rename need edit permission, and Delete needs delete permission. Workspace owners have all three. Deleted videos wait in the Bin for 30 days on Free and 90 days on Pro.

Share a video

The player page shows the video with your workspace logo and accent color, and with the title and description of the transfer. On Free, the page shows the Powered by Tarkle backlink. On Pro, you can turn it off with Show Powered by Tarkle in the Backlink card of the workspace's branding settings. On Agency, the backlink is replaced by your agency name. For the feature as a whole, see video and audio sharing.

A video transfer can also have:

  • a cover image, which the player shows before the video plays

  • a button with a label and a link of your choice, which opens in a new tab

  • autoplay, which starts the video when the page loads

  • an expiry date, after which the link stops opening

  • public, organization, or password access

  • download access set to listen only, free download, or paid download

A watermark can be added only to a listen only transfer, because a transfer cannot have both a watermark and downloads. Casting and Picture-in-Picture are on by default, and they are switched off for paid downloads. A transfer with several videos plays them in one player.

Charge for a video

Paid download is a Pro feature, and Agency includes everything in Pro. Three things must be in place before you can charge for a video:

  1. Your organization is on Pro or Agency.

  2. Stripe is connected on the Integrations page under Settings.

  3. Enable paid transfers is switched on in your workspace settings. It stays locked on Free.

A paid transfer cannot have a password, an expiry date, or view-only access, because payment is the access check. If a message stops you from charging for a transfer, Why can't I turn on paid transfers? names the step that is missing.
