Assign a brand page to one client contact or one organization, and it shows under Brands in their client portal. The steps below cover the assignment, the email the client receives, and what the client can do with the brand.

Assign a brand to a client

  1. Open Brands and open the brand you want to share.

  2. Select Settings in the tabs at the top of the editor.

  3. In the Assign this brand card, switch on Assign this brand.

  4. Under Contact or organization, choose one contact or one organization.

  5. Save the brand with the buttons at the top of the editor.

Note: Assign this brand does not change who can open the page. Access is set separately, under Access on the same tab.

Who gets an email

When a brand is assigned to a contact, that contact receives an email saying they have been assigned to manage the brand, with a link to the client portal. When a brand is assigned to an organization, the email goes to the owner of that organization.

What the client sees

Clients find brands under Brands in the sidebar of their client portal. The list shows the brands assigned to the client or to their organization.

What the client can do

By default, a client can only view the brands assigned to them.

To let organization contacts create and edit brands, open your workspace's Settings, find the Client portal card, and switch on Allow organization contacts to create brands. The client portal is a Pro feature. It is included on Pro and Agency. Your organization owns the plan, so a workspace has no plan of its own. Which plan includes the client portal? shows how to check it.

The switch can be turned on only while Enable client portal is on. It is greyed out while the portal is off or while the plan does not include the client portal. If a request still turns it on while the portal is off, the app answers "Turn on the client portal first." On a plan without the client portal, the app answers "The client portal is available on Pro plans."

Turning the client portal off, or moving to a plan without it, is never blocked by this switch.

With the switch on:

  • Organization owners and admins can create brands. For the brands assigned to them or their organization, they can also edit, publish, add domains and delete.

  • Members, and contacts who belong to no organization, can edit the brands assigned to them. They cannot create brands, add domains or delete them.

With the switch off, a client only sees the brands assigned to them and cannot create or change any brand.

Restricted brands

In the Access list on the Settings tab, a brand offers Public and Password protected. Restricted appears only on a brand that already uses it. A restricted brand opens for the contact it is assigned to and for the members of the organization it is assigned to. To compare the access choices, read who can open a brand page.

Limits

The client portal is included on Pro and Agency. A brand that a client creates counts toward the same brand page limit as the brand pages you create. On Free, your organization can have one brand page across all its workspaces, and Pro and Agency allow unlimited brand pages. Compare the plans on the pricing page, and read brand page plans and limits.

What happens next

To give a client access to the portal, follow how to invite your first client to the client portal. Once they sign in, they open Brands to see the brands you assigned.
