A reviewer gives a board its answer: approve the work or request changes. This page covers the reviewer's steps, what the board owner sees, and what happens when a reviewer changes an answer. To see how a reviewer opens a board, read How do reviewers leave feedback? first.

Steps (reviewer)

  1. Open the board link. If the board asks for your name and email, enter both. You do not need an account.

  2. Click Finish review at the top right of the board.

  3. In Finish reviewing this board, click ๐Ÿ‘ Approve this work or ๐Ÿ‘Ž Request changes.

  4. Optionally, write a note in Additional comments (optional). A note longer than 4,000 characters is cut off.

  5. Click Submit review.

After you submit, the button shows Approved in green or Changes requested in red.

Note: if you click Finish review before you have entered your name and email, the board shows "Please tell us who you are first." and asks for them again.

Change your answer

Click the Approved or Changes requested button again to open the dialog and send a new answer. The new answer becomes the board's current answer, and every answer you send is kept as its own entry. The owner is emailed each time.

What the owner sees

Each answer emails the board owner the reviewer's name, the answer and the note. The email shows the first 240 characters of a long note.

On the Feedback page of the workspace, a board with an answer shows a small round icon in the bottom-right corner of its preview: a white tick on green for Approved, or a white edit icon on red for Changes requested. Hover over the icon to read the words.

Activity

Reviewers see Activity under Submit review, in the same dialog. It lists what happened on the board, newest first: the board created, each comment, reply, review, status change, assignment and resolve, with who and when. Hover over a time to see the exact date and time.

When you cannot review

When the owner turns comments off, or the feedback deadline has passed, the button is hidden. If the reviewer answered before, the board shows that answer as a plain Approved or Changes requested label. Deadlines and closing feedback explains how a board closes.

Team members of the workspace cannot submit reviews on its boards. The button is hidden from them, and a review from a signed-in team member is refused. A reviewer who enters a team member's email is refused too, and must use their own email.

After changes are requested

Read the note in the owner's email, then open the board and click Add version in the top bar. Choose the updated file. The button shows Uploading... while the file is sent, and the file is uploaded as a new version of the open file. Only the owner and team members who can edit files see Add version, and it needs an open file. To see how versions work, read file versions.
