What is a video transfer page?
The video transfer page is the branded page where a recipient watches your video, and what they can download.
A video transfer page is the page a recipient opens from a link with /v/ in its address. It plays your video on a branded page, with the title and description you wrote. Depending on how the transfer was set up, the page can also show a Download button, ask for a password, or ask for an email address before the video plays.
To create a video transfer, read What are transfers in Tarkle?. This article covers what the recipient sees.
What the page shows
The video plays in a centered card at the top of the page. Below the player come the transfer title, the creator's name, and a line with the number of videos or the length of a single video, the file size, the date the transfer was created and, when it has changed, the date it was updated.
The description comes next, then the body text if you wrote one, then a button with the label and link you set. The button opens its link in a new tab.
The cover image, if the transfer has one, is the picture shown on the player before the video plays. It is also the preview image when someone shares the link, for a transfer that anyone with the link can open.
The Download button and the button you set use your workspace's accent color. The page background is a light tint of your brand color.
Playing the video
A video uploaded to Tarkle plays in the browser, so the recipient does not need to download it.
A video added from a link plays from its source. Supported sources are YouTube, Vimeo, Loom, Wistia, Bunny and Gumlet. Wistia share links, with /s/ in the address, do not play. Use the direct or embed link of the Wistia video instead. For a Loom video, see How to create a branded video page with a Loom video.
A video added from a link has no Download button. When a transfer holds several videos, the viewer chooses which one plays.
Downloads
Whether the recipient can download depends on the setting the transfer was created with.
A view-only transfer plays the video with no Download button.
A transfer that allows downloads shows a Download button beside the title. If the transfer holds several videos, the button reads Download all and downloads every video in the transfer.
A paid transfer does not show the Download button on this page.
When a transfer has a watermark turned on, the video shows your workspace name over it.
Passwords and email gates
A transfer can ask for a password, an email address, or both, before the video plays. Members of your workspace who open the page while signed in skip both.
For a password, the recipient types it in the Password field and clicks Unlock. A wrong password shows Incorrect password. After a correct password, the browser keeps the page unlocked for 30 days.
For an email gate, the recipient enters Your email address and, if they want, Your name (optional), then clicks Access files. Tarkle saves the address as a contact in your workspace, and the browser keeps the page unlocked for 24 hours. Email gated file transfers explains how the gate works.
Views and links that stop working
Each time the page loads, Tarkle counts a view on the transfer and records the time of the last view. The view is also written to the activity log of your workspace, without the viewer's email address.
If you disable the transfer, or its expiry date has passed, the link opens a page-not-found page. A link to a transfer that is not a video opens the same page.
