How to create a branded video page with a Vimeo video
Paste a Vimeo video link into a video transfer and share the page at your Workspace URL or Custom domain.
If your video is already on Vimeo, you can share it on a branded Tarkle video page instead of sending the Vimeo link. This article shows how to create that transfer and what your client sees when they open it.
When this is useful
Use this when your video is already hosted on Vimeo and you want clients to open it on a page with your title. The video itself stays on Vimeo and plays inside the Tarkle page. To share a video stored in Tarkle, read How to create a video transfer.
How to create the page
Open Transfers and click New transfer.
In the dialog, choose Videos.
Open the Link tab.
Paste the Vimeo video link into the field. When Tarkle recognizes it, Detected: Vimeo appears under the field.
Click the button to go to the next step.
On the second step, enter a title. Tarkle asks for a title before you can go on.
On the third step, set who can open the page. You can add a password, or set an expiry date after which the page stops opening.
Click the button at the bottom of the dialog that creates the transfer.
Use a link to one video, in the form https://vimeo.com/ followed by the video's number, such as https://vimeo.com/123456789. The page reads the number from the link and builds the player from it. A link to an album, a channel, a group, or the vimeo.com/video/ form does not play on the page.
What your client sees
The client opens the page at your Custom domain when one is active, and at your Workspace URL otherwise. The video plays in Vimeo's player, which is embedded in the page under your title. Tarkle passes only the autoplay setting to that player.
If you added a password, the page asks for it before the video plays. After the expiry date, the page shows a not-found page.
Each time someone opens the page, Tarkle counts a view on the transfer. To see who opened it, read How to see if a recipient opened your transfer.
Note: Tarkle keeps the link to the Vimeo video and does not copy the video into Tarkle. If the video is deleted from Vimeo, the page can no longer play it.
Custom domain
The Free plan includes a custom domain, so the page can open on an address you own. Custom domains are set per workspace on Domains. To connect one, read How to set up a custom domain. You can compare the plans on pricing.
What happens next
After you create the transfer, share its page link with your client. The page opens at your Custom domain or Workspace URL, and each view is counted on the transfer.
