Intercom integration
Save your Intercom App ID in Tarkle, see where the chat bubble shows and disconnect Intercom.
The Intercom integration connects your Intercom App ID to a Tarkle workspace, so the Intercom messenger loads on your public pages. This article covers how to connect it, where the chat bubble shows and how to disconnect it.
Connect Intercom
Open Settings in the workspace you want to connect, choose the Integrations tab, or go straight to Integrations.
Find the Intercom card under Live chat and click Connect.
In the dialog, paste your Intercom App ID into the App ID field.
Click Save.
Save needs an App ID, so a blank field is not saved. The identity secret field below the App ID is optional. Tarkle stores what you enter there, but the messenger on your public pages loads with your App ID only, so Tarkle does not send a visitor's name, email or ID to Intercom.
After you save, the page refreshes and the Intercom card shows a Connected badge and a Manage button.
Where the chat bubble shows
Once an App ID is saved, the Intercom messenger loads on the public pages of your workspace. Tarkle hides the chat bubble on file transfer pages, video pages, audio pages, file request pages and Brand Pages, so visitors do not see it there. The bubble stays visible on your other public pages.
Note: if your organization is on the Free plan and its stored files are over the Free storage limit, its public pages return a not found page, so the messenger does not load on them either.
One live chat tool at a time
Intercom shares one live chat choice with HubSpot Chat and Crisp. While Intercom is connected, the HubSpot Chat and Crisp cards are faded and their buttons are disabled. Saving an App ID also clears any HubSpot Chat or Crisp setting in the workspace. To use one of those tools instead, disconnect Intercom first.
Disconnect Intercom
On the Intercom card, click Manage, then click Disconnect in the dialog. Tarkle removes the App ID and the identity secret, and the messenger stops loading on your public pages. To change the App ID instead, paste the new one into the App ID field and click Save.
What happens next
Once Intercom is disconnected, the HubSpot Chat and Crisp cards are available again, so you can connect one of them instead.
