Slack connects one Slack channel to a Tarkle workspace. After you connect, Tarkle posts alerts to that channel when people act on your files, such as viewing or downloading a transfer. Slack is included on Pro and Agency. Agency includes everything in Pro. For the other tools you can connect, see Integrations: connect tools to Tarkle.

Connect Slack

Each Tarkle workspace has its own Slack connection and channel, so repeat these steps in every workspace you want to connect. On a plan without Slack, the Slack dialog shows an Upgrade button instead of Connect Slack. Plans and prices are on the pricing page.

  1. Open Integrations under Settings in the workspace.

  2. Click the Slack card.

  3. Click Connect Slack. Tarkle sends you to Slack's authorization page.

  4. Approve access on Slack's page.

  5. Tarkle returns you to Settings, then Integrations. Click the Slack card again.

  6. Open the channel field and choose a channel. Private channels show a lock icon. If a channel is missing from the list, use the refresh button next to the field.

  7. Click Save. The button stays disabled until you choose a channel.

Which notifications are sent

When you save a channel, Tarkle turns on these notifications for the workspace:

  • a transfer is viewed

  • a transfer is downloaded

  • a file request is viewed

  • a file request is fulfilled

  • a file is uploaded

  • an email is captured

  • a masked link is created

  • a Brand Page is viewed

  • a Brand Page is downloaded

Every alert goes to the one channel you chose. To send alerts to another channel, choose it in the channel field and click Save again.

If the connection does not finish

If Slack does not complete the connection, Tarkle sends you back to the app home page without a message. Open Settings, then Integrations, and start again from the Slack card.

Disconnect Slack

Open the Slack card and click Disconnect. The button appears only while Slack is connected. Disconnecting removes the Slack connection and the chosen channel from the workspace.

If you connect again to the same Slack workspace without disconnecting first, the channel you chose stays. After you disconnect, choose a channel again. Connecting a different Slack workspace clears the channel.

If your plan no longer includes Slack, for example after a move to Free, Tarkle stops posting to Slack. The connection stays saved until you click Disconnect.

What happens next

After you click Save, the alerts listed above go to the channel you chose. Each integration has its own help article, for example the Mailchimp integration. To see what the alerts report, read Slack notifications.
